Artservis wouldn't make sense without the lively market of the multifaceted art & culture production as shaped & shaken by the national & transnational cultural policies, and by the interests of the private capital. However, the circumstances of the market are never brought upon us - we either support, accept, bypass, subvert or replace them.
To keep this reciprocal impact in mind we offer you some further reading:
Alen Ožbolt - On Money (2002)
1, 10, 100, 1,000, 10,000, 1,000,000. An intriguing artist's text on measure and price of art. Includes the documents from 1990 (VSSD) and 2001.
Alenka Pirman - Art Service (2002)
Written 6 months after the launching of Artservis, its editor depicts the project's background and its aspirations.
Alexei Shulgin -
Art, Power, and Communication (1996)
Art as we know it is the result of our desire to communicate, repressed by the social structures of power. In this anthological text the pionier of net.art advises the artist to abolish the social determination of his/her activity and thus avoid the accumulation of this power.
